Random Thoughts

1. Slept until 11:49 today, minus the hour I was up to make breakfast for J, walk the dog, and see J off to the working world. Feeling vaguely guilty, then thinking--Hey, I'm building a person!
2. J came home at 1:15ish because I forgot to charge my phone and the financial branch of the evil empire (aka our mortgage lender) is requesting information on a deposit made into J's account 6 weeks ago. Since my phone was dead, J came home to get the deposit information to send to FB of the EE. Why on EARTH would they need this information? Are they double checking that we're not cooking meth?
3. I still had not taken shower, made bed, cleaned kitchen or other things when J got home. D'oh.
4. I just finished the book Horns by Joe Hill. It's fantastic. It's disturbing. It's staying with me. In it, people feel compelled to tell the main character their most terrible secrets. I've been wondering what mine are. I don't really have many, I don't think. I cheated on a test in high school. I have been cruel on occasion. Overall, I think my life is pretty much an open Pollyannaish book, but I've been wondering if I'm kidding myself. I'm also wondering if most people have the kind of terrible secrets Joe Hill describes in the book. Yikes!
5. Do read that book. It's one of those books that you have to take a reading break after finishing, because you don't want to cloud it. Also, I want to have someone to talk to about it.
6. I'm jonesing for a chocolate milkshake. But McDonald's, my usual milkshake provider, has garbaged up a basic treat by adding whipped cream and a cherry. I don't want that stuff. I just want the cool, chocolatey sweetness that NEVER lasts long enough.
7. Our new house butts up against a house that is also a Psychic's Parlor. They also have some awesome restored muscle cars in their driveway. I want to befriend the psychic/car enthusiast. I want to pick the psychic's brain for information as research for the magnum opus I started last summer. I curse my shyness.
8. I forgot what 8 was for.
9. Charlie, the good cat, has taken to hanging out on top of the cabinets in the kitchen of the Flop House. He likes to get this look on his face that shows he is a benevolent dictator, though he is king of all he surveys. He makes it clear that he will let us live, provided we keep the tuna cans coming. I'd love to see him the way he sees himself.
10. LO is making strange fluttery kind of movements. I'm wondering if he's hiccuping. I can't say that pregnancy is a blissful state for me. I know some women love being preggers. I feel about pregnancy the way I did when I impulsively adopted a kitten way back when, and then had to find her a new home when she didn't get along with Bonanza. I liked the kitten very much and I was sad to see her go, but it was ultimately a relief to get back to the apartment and say, "It's just you and me, babe," to Bonanza. I know it will be a relief to just be one human being in this space--not to mention I'll finally get a chance to meet LO. But, all that said, I think I might miss the fluttery kicks and turns. It's something that really and truly, only LO and I share.

  1. The movements are really magical :) Has J felt the baby kicking yet? This baby is kind of shy and B hasn't felt them yet.

You have to get back to me on whether you want Bobs's old baby clothes! They're sitting in a box, waiting to be sent to you...

  2. He has felt it, but LO is kind of shy, too. I have to treat it like one of the animals doing something cute--whisper, don't make a big deal out of it, and just motion J over to put his hand on my bell. Otherwise, he stops!

I would LOVE to have Bobs's old baby clothes. We're moving out of the Flop House tomorrow/Saturday, and I have an honest-to-goodness address. I'll email it to you. Thank you so much!!
