The Taco Anniversary

Four years ago today, J and I were married in a small ceremony on the top of a hill in Ohio.
We also had a moon bounce. Because no wedding is complete without one:
Last night, J and I had the following conversation:

Me: Tomorrow's our anniversary.

J: And you're just telling me now? (We engraved the date in J's wedding ring for this very reason. Dates are not his forte.)

Me: It's okay. I didn't do anything for it, either.

J: What is this, four years? What kind of gift is that supposed to be?

Me: I don't know. I know the first and 25th and 50th, but other than that, I have no idea.

J: I bet four years is the taco anniversary. That's why two and three are shredded cheese and guacamole. You're building up to the tacos.

Me: I'm absolutely sure that's correct. I'm sorry I didn't get you shredded cheese and guacamole over the past couple of years.

And this, my friends, is why we're going to stop at El Meson Mexican Restaurant. Because we need to make sure we celebrate our anniversary appropriately.
And J and I are nothing if not sticklers for etiquette and wedding precedent.

Happy anniversary, honey.  I love you!

  1. Apparently the 4th anniversary is linen or silk in the US (fruit and flowers on my side of the pond). There's a list on the Wikipedia page for wedding anniversary
