I'm Beginning to Think J and BB Are in Cahoots

I have a set of bright pink Tommy Hilfiger sheets:

You see, I'm a fan of the color pink, and I'm only marginally ashamed of that fact. Also, Tommy Hilfiger makes overpriced sheets that feel like a thousand angels dancing on your skin, which you would think would keep you awake, but is instead wonderfully soporific.

In any case, I get kind of excited on new sheet day when my pink sheets are on deck.

J, however, is not a fan of the pink sheets. He has bought into the Princess propaganda machine and he describes pink as "a girl color." Since he is not the individual in charge of new sheet day, however, he simply accepts the pinkification of our bed. (I do put his pillow in a non-pink case, in deference to his man-preferences.)

Something unusual has been happening lately, however. Each time that I pinkify the bed on new sheet day, BB manages to projectile vomit all over the fitted and/or the flat sheet within 24 hours of my making the bed. The child misses the comforter and the quilt (knowing that getting spit-up on the quilt I spent 11 years making with my own bare hands would be a bridge too far, I suspect), but he always manages to soil the pink sheets in such a way that I have no choice but to remake the bed with less feminine sheets.

I'm not saying that the child doesn't vomit on our bed with something approaching regularity. After all, 3-month-olds are not known for their ability to keep a meal down. But it's only the pink sheets that need to be changed the very day after they are originally put on the bed.

Coincidence? I think not.

Clearly, these are co-conspirators.

  1. wasn't it the camo ones with the first kid? I seem to remember something like that.

    1. You have an excellent memory! Indeed, LO seemed to have an issue with my favorite sheets--the Tommy Hilfiger camo.

  2. I'm not a fan of pink, but I do really love a pink Tommy Hilfiger shirt my MIL gave me recently. It matches your sheets.

Luckily, my days of dealing with child vomit are fairly over, though I do remember a terrible, terrible day in WalMart years ago that involved sheets that weren't even ours yet.

  3. I'm not saying it's the same AT ALL, but my cat does the same thing to my pretty aqua sheets. :( But cats are also not known for their ability to keep a meal down!
